Using AppFurnace

We were given a task to create a mobile application on AppFurnace web site.

My very first idea was to build an application about the Word's most beautiful places including the map with the directions to the closest hotels.

I couldn't find the appropriate information needed to support my application; therefore I decided to change the topic to "Find me a Taxi".
From my personal experience, when I browse on the internet for a Taxi company, I often end up being disappointed. One company either have too many numbers or is not in the correct area. Also at peak times the average waiting time can take up to 30 minutes. So, I came up with an idea to
make an informative app about
top5 taxi services in UWE and Bristol City Centre.

I decided to change the mobile application making it more interactive. My last project shows the map of closest taxi ranks and number of taxi companies nearby.

The process of creating the mobile application

Before I started to build a mobile application I analysed the scope, structure and strategy of my application .

1. My strategy was to make an app which finds taxi ranks which are closest to the users.

2. When location is found, the map would then give information about the company and the approximate time to the destination.

Taxi application would best suit people who are located in Frenchay campus and Bristol City Centre, as well as for people without personal transport.

The mobile application has 4 pages. Each of them is described below;

Person who is using the application has two options; either find a taxi rank nearby or look at the companies located close to where they are.

The map shows closest route to the taxi rank as well as taxi company's number, mileage and walking time.

On the second page is a list of taxi companies phone numbers.

Instructions are included of how to use the application.
